Question 1: How do I access the Data Import Wizard?
Answer: The Data Import Wizard can be accessed by selecting Import
Data from the File menu. Data can only be imported into a new chart. After that,
data must be refreshed.
Question 2: How do I format my chart after import?
Answer: By default, OrgPlus 5 will display the Name & Title
fields, and apply a default black & white template to imported data. You can
manually format your chart by selecting different options from the Format menu
or you can apply design, branch, and box templates. Select Templates from the
View menu to display the Templates panel.
Question 3: If I use data refresh, will I lose chart formatting?
Answer: No, data refresh will maintain all box formatting, branch
styles and sub-charts break. You can access additional data refresh options by
selecting Refresh Properties from the Data menu. Using Refresh Properties, users
can configure options that include changing the data source and the fields to
refresh.
Question 4: What happened to all of the steps in the Data Import Wizard? I
can't apply a template; insert photos or layout a box in the import wizard.
Answer: Due to limitations in the previous versions of OrgPlus,
the Data Import Wizard required the user to perform many steps in order to
automate the process of creating a chart. Before OrgPlus5, the user had to
define how the chart was to be formatted during the import process; now all
formatting is done after the data has been imported into OrgPlus. This
dramatically simplifies automation.
Question 5: What happened to the "Save as Shortcut" option? How do I
schedule a shortcut to run?
Answer: OrgPlus 5 no longer requires a user to create shortcuts
when importing or publishing. Rather than create a separate name for a shortcut,
OrgPlus 5 automatically saves the information required to refresh the data. For
example, a charts created by importing from an XLS file will automatically
remember it's source and can be refreshed from that source.
Instead of scheduling a shortcut, OrgPlus 5 schedules a "data refresh." Select
Scheduler... from the Tools menu to schedule a refresh.
Question 6: Will I break data refresh if I make changes to data or
reporting relationships in the chart?
Answer: No. Unlike previous versions of OrgPlus, data refresh
allows you to make any changes to the chart without breaking data refresh.
However, when data refresh is used, similar to Microsoft Excel, all fields
specified in the Data Refresh Options will be overwritten with the values
contained in the data source.
Question 7: How can I easily add photos to my chart?
Answer: The source of your photos may be unrelated to the source
of the chart data. Photos can easily be included in your chart by selecting
Photo Manager from the Data menu. OrgPlus 5 has the ability to handle photos by
reference or to include the photos as part of the chart file. Photos included
using the photo manager can also be refreshed during data refresh.
