OrgPlus Enterprise - Security Overview
OP-200-S0005
Summary:
OrgPlus Enterprise supports role based security. Each user is assigned a role. A
role determines which domains, templates, and fields a user can access.
Typically an administrator will create roles as required by business needs.
OrgPlus Enterprise can be configured for Open Access, Secure Access,
or a combination of both access types, Hybrid Access. Hybrid
Access allows the majority of end users to access the system using a URL that
does not require login. Users requiring access to confidential data must login
before using the system.
Procedure:
If OrgPlus is configured for Secure Access, you may notice that certain fields
in charts and directories are not shown. When your user account was created, you
were assigned a role. Your role determines which charts you can access, and for
each chart, which fields you can view.
Roles:
An administrator typically creates roles as required by business needs. For
example, if salary information is included in an organisational chart, it is
important to make sure that access to this information is properly restricted.
In order to do this, the administrator creates two roles:
- Individual contributor - can only view salary information for himself.
- Manager - can only view salary information for herself and all her subordinates.
A user with the individual contributor role can only view salary information for her record. Debra Jackson in the example below has the individual contributor role.

A user with the manager role can only view salary information for himself and all his subordinates. Phil Jones in the example below has the manager role.

Note: If you believe that your role is incorrectly
configured, contact your system administrator.
Rights To
In addition to your role, you can also be granted rights to another user's
security. This is useful for HR managers or administrators who need access to
secure information for a given manager.
In the following example, an HR administrator is given rights to a manager in
another department.
